17. Juni 2026 - Preparing for the Journey North
My name is Saeny and I’m joining Project 68° North as photographer, filmmaker and crew member. This will be my third voyage with Skipper Andy and I’m looking forward to heading north together once again.
On July 24, we will set sail from the Lofoten Islands in Northern Norway and head west across the North Atlantic. Our route will take us to Jan Mayen, East Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands during five weeks at sea.
As a photographer and filmmaker, I’ll be documenting the expedition through images and film. I’m also responsible for the social media content.
What fascinates me most is not only the landscape and adventure, but the human experience. What happens when nine people leave behind the constant connection of everyday life and spend weeks isolated together on 60 square meters surrounded by ocean, ice and wilderness?
Besides documenting the journey, I’m also part of the food team. Preparing food for nine people for five weeks in remote Arctic waters is an expedition in itself. Around 550 eggs, 50 kilograms of flour and hundreds of meals need to find their place on board before we even leave the harbor.
With 37 days to go, preparations are becoming more real every day. Cameras are being prepared, provisions are being planned, and soon we will be heading north.
The photos in this post were taken during a previous expedition around Svalbard in 2023.
